This Event featured some
influential figures, including professor Mahmoud Iqbal Chaudhry, Coordinator
General of COMSTECH, Dr. Karim Najafi Barzegar, Secretary General of
the Islamic World Virtual University Network, Dr. Seyed Abdolmajid Ayatollahi, Member
of the Faculty Board at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Rainak
Ghaderi, Head of Academic Relations and International Affairs, and Mr. Ahmad
Shafieian, Public Relations Officer.
Founded during the Third Islamic Summit
in Mecca in January 1981, COMSTECH aims to enhance scientific cooperation among
OIC member states. Led by the President of Pakistan, the center focuses on
improving member countries' capabilities through education and offers
scholarships for young scientists to foster collaboration in virology and
vaccine technology.
During the Fourth General
Assembly of COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities(CINVU), Razi Institute presented its history and capabilities, along with its export
package.
Proposed collaborative initiatives
included:
Establishing a vaccine network among Islamic
countries, promoting local vaccine production with OIC member institutions, utilizing
research scholarships and COMSTECH fellowship programs.
Exploring
joint scientific collaborations, addressing the need for Antivenom for Sindi
Krait (Bungarus Sindanus) bites near the Pakistan-Iran border, readiness to export polyvalent
antivenom products to Pakistan, announcing an international online conference
on venom and antivenom set for February 17-18, 2025.
At the meeting's conclusion,
Professor Chaudhry and his team were invited to visit the Razi Institute,
further strengthening ties between the centers.
