The Ministry of Health has officially recognized the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute for its pivotal role in eliminating measles and rubella from the country.

Dr. Ali Es-haghi, Director General of Razi Institute, announced that the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education commended Razi Institute's efforts in producing and supplying vaccines essential for the national vaccination program to eradicate these deadly diseases. The ministry emphasized the importance of continuing this collaboration.

According to Dr. Es-haghi, reports from medical universities and health networks indicate that widespread vaccination coverage in 2023 has led to Iran's success in eliminating measles and rubella, a milestone also acknowledged by the World Health Organization (WHO). He noted that while these diseases have been eradicated in Iran, they continue to pose a threat in some advanced countries, where outbreaks are re-emerging.

Dr. Es-haghi highlighted WHO confirmations in official reports, including letters issued in 2019 and 2023, stating that Iran has successfully eliminated rubella and is on the verge of eradicating measles. These reports underscore the importance of domestic vaccine production and extensive vaccination campaigns.

He reiterated that the primary mission of the Razi Institute is to ensure public health and food security. Achievements like these transform the challenges faced into pride and motivation for the institute's researchers and staff. Dr. Es-haghi reaffirmed their commitment to supplying necessary vaccines and collaborating on national and international programs to control and eradicate infectious diseases.

The Razi Institute remains dedicated to safeguarding public health and will continue to participate actively in health security initiatives.
