Razi Institute is known abroad / Foreign countries demand for medical vaccines
Dr. Ali Es-haghi, Director General of Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, stating that the institute is better known abroad, said: "There are demands for medical vaccines for Measles, Rubella and Polio, which we hope will be met this year."
According to the Public Relations of Razi Institute, Dr. Ali Es-haghi during the visit of the directors and economic advisors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which was held on Sunday 22 May,2022 said: The production of biological products such as vaccines and therapeutic sera and also research and development along with  veterinary research are two main tasks of Razi Institute and mentioned more than 80 products that are produced in this institute and consumed in the society are the result of the activities of the institute's research and development and are from research to product, and this is unique in the world.
Referring to the existence of 15 diagnostic laboratories in Razi Institute, he said: "These laboratories are mostly in the field of veterinary medicine and we also cooperate with the veterinary organization in this field."
Dr. Es-haghi added: "In the field of medicine, this institute produces seven vaccines out of 11 types of medical vaccines in the National Vaccination Program. The other two vaccines are supplied through imports and two vaccines are provided at the Pasteur Institute of Iran. Razi Institute provides 85% of the country's needs in the field of medical vaccines.
He added: "Also, 90 to 95% of livestock vaccines and in the field of poultry vaccines, 30 to 32% of the country's needs are produced in Razi Institute."
Dr. Es-haghi continued his speech by stating that the products of this institute meet the major needs of the country, but these products are much better known abroad and we have many orders, he said: In recent years, we have been able to export anti-snake and anti-scorpion antivenins produced by this institute, especially to Iraq.  So that Iran is the only supplier to Iraq in terms of these products.
Dr. Es-haghi added: "The medical products produced by this institute have a good capacity for export, so that in recent years, Measles, Rubella and Mumps vaccines, as well as Polio have been in demand for export.
Dr. Es-haghi said: in the field of livestock vaccines, 25 vaccines are used in the country, except for the FMD vaccine, which some of it is supplied through imports, the rest of the vaccines are mainly  supplied by Razi Institute and there is a good export capacity for these vaccines. In the field of poultry, 15 vaccines are used, of which Razi Institute produces about 30%. Also, in recent years, with the improvement of facilities, a suitable platform has been provided for the export of a number of poultry vaccines, including the Newcastle-influenza, a bivalent vaccine.
Referring to the issue of sanctions, Dr. Es-haghi said: "This institution is always under sanctions and in recent years, we have faced challenges, although we have been able to overcome them."
Some countries are requesting to buy Razi Cov Pars, covid vaccine. Today the demand has decreased, however, due to the fact that this vaccine is based on recombinant protein, this type of vaccine is now needed more; On the other hand, its intranasal form acts as a separate vaccine. With these two characteristics, Razi Cov Pars vaccine can be used for export. Some of this vaccine is donated to Afghanistan and Pakistan at the suggestion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Referring to the background and knowledge of Razi Institute, he emphasized: Razi Institute welcomes the creation of scientific-research opportunities for joint activities with other countries, exchange of scientists and scientific topics, and exchange of technical knowledge and technology, and  is ready to cooperate in this regard.
The directors and economic advisors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited different parts of the institute in order to get acquainted with the capabilities of the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute and export capacities and opportunities of Razi institute’s products to abroad.
