Opening Ceremony of the Workshop on Vaccine Production in Razi Institute

Razi Vaccine & Serum Research Institute in cooperation with Iran Veterinary Organization (IVO) and Tehran University would hold a workshop on Vaccine production and quality control for a team of experts from the Republic of Mali from 24 June to 5 July, 2023 at Razi Institute. The opening ceremony for this workshop was held with the presence of H. Mr. Ahmedu Brazi Maiga, Chargé d'affaires of the Mali Embassy in Tehran and officials from IVO and Ministry of Agriculture –Jahad at Dr. Kaveh Hall of Razi on 24 June, 2023.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Rainak Ghaderi, Head of International Relations, presented the agenda and Dr. Ali Es-haghi, Director General of Razi Institute opened the ceremony.
Dr. Ali Es-haghi while welcoming the Malian delegate in Razi Institute talked about the products of Razi Institute but he put greater emphasis on R&D. According to Dr.  Es-haghi, all of products of Razi Institute during its century-long life are fruits of indefatigable researchers and scientists. He also talked about some upcoming biological products in near future.

Dr. Es-haghi also spoke about arranging some schedules for the presence of Malian delegate in Razi Institute which gives this chance to the Malian delegate to visit the Razi Institute and get enough training from Razi Institute trainers and lecturers. It is worth mentioning that Malian technical team has already started their training courses since two weeks ago.

 Mr. Ahmadu Brazi Maiga the Chargé d'affaires of Mali. appreciated Razi Institute for arranging such a productive meeting, he read the congratulatory message from the Ambassador. “I would  like, on behalf of HE MAIGA, to ask you to convey to the highest Iranian authorities the most cordial greetings from their counterparts in Mali. The present ceremony which brings us together, namely the training of Malian specialist in research on vaccine and serum, is one of the strong recommendations resulting from the first session of the Joint Cooperation Commission Mali-Iran, held in Bamako, from August 21 to 23 ,2023 under the high chairmanship of our two Foreign Ministers”.

Dr. Hassan Vishteh the IVO Deputy of Treatment Management and Diagnosis talked about the process of this mission. According to him, this mission was agreed upon about one year ago by the Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, IVO and the Malian side. Finally, IVO was given the responsibility of holding this training course. He added, this training is being held triply by IVO, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Razi Institute.

Dr. Soheila Moradi Bidhendi, Deputy of Research and Technology of Razi Institute while welcoming the guests including Mr. Maiga, IVO officials and Razi Institute staff who attended the meeting, expressed that Razi Institute in parallel with IVO is ready to cooperate with Mali government regarding sample separation, diagnosis, vaccine production and development. She introduced Razi Institute as an experienced institute to hold the international training courses including SRVP with the help of Islamic Development Bank and a training course on FMD with IVO.

Dr. Adel Haghihi, Head of Reference Laboratories, Diagnostics, and Applied Studies of IVO, spoke about this training course and different parts of this course such as GIS, epidemiological control of diseases and also the visit to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He also talked about some of the methods taught to the Malian trainees, such as the treatment of avian diseases and FMD.
Dr. Najmeh Motamed the Executive Editing Manager of Razi Institute's Archive Journal briefly introduced the Razi Archive Journal and talked about the history, aim and scope, publication process, indexing and abstracting and services of this precious material. She reminded that this journal is the oldest scientific journal in Iran.

The Malian team introduced themselves, their mission, and their country capacity regarding the livestock and poultry population and also vaccine production and importation in their country.
Finally, the guests visited the Museum of Razi Institute and the experts from Mali started the first session of this workshop in the afternoon at Razi Institute.
