In this meeting, the conditions and successes of Razi institute despite the sanctions, were highlighted by the deputy directors, and the support of the World Health Organization in solving the problems of the institute, as well as the removal of obstacles in the field of CP for the polio vaccine, were emphasized.
Dr. Liliane Boualam, technical officer of the Headquarters of the World Health Organization stated that today by attending Razi institute, I was very impressed by the activities and long history of the institute in the production of vaccines and biologicals.
She reminded: Razi institute is of special importance in eradication due to its proximity to Afghanistan and Pakistan and due to the positive cases of polio, and issuance of polio virus containment certificate for Razi Institute is considered one of the important programs of the WHO.
Dr. Boualam stated that Pakistan does not have the facilities to store seeds and WHO has selected Razi institute in the region and emphasized receiving the CP certificate is a prelude to advancing the other goals of the institute in the field of sIPV. With the issuance of the polio virus containment certificate to Razi institute, Iran will be the second country after Canada to receive this certificate.
Dr. Salman Sharif, Polio Scientist of EMRO, expressed his gratitude to Razi institute for coordinating this meeting, said: This institute is a well-known institute and it is the only center in the region that has the facilities and conditions for keeping polio seeds.
According to this report, a decision will be made about issuing this certificate in a meeting that will be held soon hosted by the national Food and Drug Organization.
At the end of this meeting, the guests, accompanied by the team of Razi institute, visited several departments of the institute, including the RVSRI Museum and the BSL3 laboratory.
It should be noted that Razi institute is the only manufacturer of polio vaccine in the Middle East, and despite the spread of this disease in neighboring countries, Iran's Ministry of Health has been able to eradicate this disease in the country with Razi institute's polio vaccine.
