Razi Institute a leader in holding training courses for other countries /sanctions are contrary to the provisions of the Biological Weapons Convention
The Head of International Relations of Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute called holding training courses on vaccine production a sign of Iran's goodwill in providing its scientific knowledge and capabilities to countries that need to receive these technologies.

According to the Public Relations of Razi Institute, Dr. Rianak Ghaderi, referring to the training course which is held for the Malian experts, said: This training course is being held at Razi Institute at the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Amir Abdullahian, the coordination of Iran Veterinary Organization and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Tehran University. Based on Article Ten (X) of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), the purpose of these interactions is to facilitate the exchange of equipment, materials, and scientific and technological information for peaceful purposes and prevention of infectious diseases, On the other hand, based on the articles of this convention, Razi Institute expects to acquire modern technologies for vaccine production from other countries.

He reminded that in 2003, Iran was the main focus of holding a course on self-reliance in vaccine production among Islamic countries, funded by the Islamic Development Bank and four training courses were held for 15 Islamic countries by Razi Institute.

Dr. Ghaderi added: It has always been mentioned that Iran, as a large center in vaccine manufacturing, provides its knowledge and experience to other countries. Therefore, Razi Institute, as a leading center, has experienced such training courses in the past.
The Head of International Relations of Razi Institute stated regarding the opportunity of our country to benefit from interaction with other countries: relying on the diplomatic capacities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and using the membership in the BWC, it is possible to provide the participation of other countries to transfer technology to our country.

He considered the presence of our country's diplomats in the annual meetings in Geneva effective with the aim of expanding international relations and said: Razi Institute as a member of the specialized group of this convention, along with Pasteur Institute of Iran, Genetic Research Center, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health and the Veterinary Organization of Iran  are five specialized biological groups that provide scientific advice to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and this specialized committee.
Pointing out that the last review conference of BWC was held in Geneva in December 2022, Dr. Ghaderi said: Representatives from Razi Institute and the four mentioned groups were present at this meeting and efforts were made in order to improve the benefits of the members from the technologies in biological fields in a peaceful way and these efforts would continue.
He clarified: This is a serious demand. Why is Iran under cruel sanctions when all these people are members of this international convention and all members are committed to provide knowledge and technology to other countries.

Dr. Ghaderi stated that the final product of Razi Institute is aimed for health promotion added: When the polio vaccine is produced in the country and at the Razi Institute, this vaccine will be available to all people, neighboring countries and even it is supplied countries in a friendly and peaceful manner. Therefore, sanctioning this institute is contrary to the principles of the BWC as on international convention.

He further assessed the holding of the mentioned training course as constructive in strengthening international interactions and reminded: these issues are discussed in the convention and such activities and programs show Iran's goodwill in providing knowledge and capacity building to countries that need to receive this technology.

Head of International Relations of Razi Institute added: Only seven vaccines are produced in Mali and they need the knowledge that Razi Institute possess. With more than 80 biological products, Razi Institute is ready to support Mali in further fields, and we expect to be supported by other countries in technology transfer issues.

He added: With the insight of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization as the supervising organization of  Razi Institute, as well as the actions of the international bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad, this approach can be seen that this valuable seat for Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute should be kept for the country and it would play as a forum so that we proclaim our truth to the world and endorse its peaceful activities.
