THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE 22ND EXHIBITION OF POULTRY, LIVESTOCK AND RELATED INDUSTRIES


On Wednesday 26th of July, the 22nd International Exhibition of Poultry, Livestock and Related Industries ended. On the last day of this event, the Razi Institute booth was visited by many high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Agriculture-Jahad and the Iran Veterinary Organization (IVO).

According to the public relations of the Razi Institute, Dr. Mojtaba Khayyam Nekoui, Deputy Minister of Agriculture-Jahad visited this exhibition on its  4th day. the high-ranking officials of the Razi Institute were also present on this visit including Dr. Ali  Es-haghi, the director general, Dr. Mohammad H.. Fallah Mehrabadi the deputy of the production of biological products, and Dr. Morteza. Akbarian the directorate in charge and chief advisor to the director general of Razi Institute.

Dr. Khayyam Nekouei talked about Razi Institute and its significant role in improving Iran's health through medical vaccines and added: “84% of these vaccines are produced in Razi Institute and Razi Institute has the largest share in medical vaccines”. He also expressed that 25% of large and small livestock vaccines belong to Razi Institute and 15 out of 42 poultry vaccines are also produced in Razi Institute, the most widely used vaccine.

However, we can increase our share of vaccines by 32% with joint international cooperation.
In response to a question about the position of the Razi Institute in the field of research and production of biological products, he considered Razi Institute to be one of the few institutes dealing with two fields of research and production at the same time and emphasized: “the technical knowledge of Razi is the result of continuous research activities of scientists. With special support to strengthen the research departments of the institute, it is necessary to acquire the technical knowledge of more products and hand them over to the private sectors for mass production or to produce the products jointly with the Razi Institute”.
The Deputy Minister of Agricultural-Jahad continued: “Razi Institute has shown that it has the appropriate research infrastructure and capable researchers in the coronavirus epidemic by making the world's first intramuscular-intranasal vaccine for Covid-19”.

Dr. Khayyam Nekoui also emphasized the need for Razi Institute to focus on the country's priority research issues in the livestock and poultry industry and said: “With the establishment of the Veterinary Strategic Research Council headed by Iran’s Veterinary Organization and Razi Institute, a set of priority researches has been approved and identified as the priority needs of the implementation department for the researchers of Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute”.

At this event, the head of Iran’s Veterinary Organization (IVO), Dr. Vahid Salehi, announced the organization's plan to increase the import tariff of domestically produced similar products to curb the widespread import of poultry vaccines and save foreign exchange reserves.

According to the public relations report of Razi Institute, Dr. Salehi, on the sidelines of the Livestock, Poultry and Related Industries Exhibition, while meeting with Dr. Ali Es-haghi said: “One of the duties of the Veterinary Organization is to supply medicine, vaccine and micronutrients needed by the livestock and poultry industry, and the more the dependence on the import of these products, the more vulnerable the country is in different situations, and a lot of foreign exchange currency is paid for imports.

He added: “Centralized support to domestic manufacturers, especially companies with technical and knowledge-based expertise in the private and public sectors, will provide the technology for making vaccines, drugs, and the necessary materials, especially concentrates, in the country, and the Veterinary Organization is responsible for this special goal”.

Dr.  Salehi continued: “In the field of livestock vaccines, especially with the cooperation of Razi Institute, many achievements have been gotten and we proudly announce that a large percentage of the country's livestock and poultry vaccines are produced in this institute”.

The head of Iran's Veterinary Organization (IVO) announced the identification of high-quality domestic products and the introduction of these institutions to the relevant ministries and agencies as the main plans of the veterinary organization to impose restrictions on the import of products of similar domestic quality, and added: "By introducing the producers of high-quality products, the necessary conditions for limiting the import or the decision to increase the import tariff will be provided to curb the illegal import of poultry vaccines”.

The General Director of Razi Institute said that the production of more than 80 biological products needed by the country is the result of nearly a century of experience and activity of this group in the vaccine industry and added: Livestock and Poultry Exhibition is an opportunity for wider interaction with all those who involved in this industry. The practitioners of this industry are more familiar with the institute's products and it shows the effective presence of Razi Institute in the country's biological industry.

According to the public relations report of Razi Institute, Dr. Ali Es-haghi, on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Livestock, Poultry, and Related Industries Exhibition, said: "Vaccine is one of the important inputs of the livestock and poultry industry, and the largest volume of this input in the country is produced at Razi Institute; Therefore, Razi Institute, with its products, is the guarantor of the health of livestock and poultry as a source of protein supply needed by the country and prevents the occurrence diseases in this industry”.
He added: "Despite increased sanctions, Razi Institute has made every effort to ensure that the difficulties do not lead to any disruption in the production of vaccines needed in Iran”.
