During the meeting, the following
key points were discussed:
Mr. Alvandi emphasized the
enduring and profound relationship between Iran and Tanzania, spanning from
historic eras to the present day. Noteworthy aspects such as Tanzania's support
during the Iran-Iraq war, the shared membership in the Non-Aligned Movement,
and the current government's dedication to enhancing economic cooperation were
all acknowledged as positive signs of robust bilateral ties.
Tanzania, a vast country covering
around 950,000 square kilometers with a population of approximately 60 million,
primarily features fertile land ideal for agriculture and livestock. Identified
challenges include insufficient healthcare infrastructure, a scarcity of
skilled professionals, limited financial resources, and technological
disparities. The potential for technology transfer through training programs
and scholarships was highlighted. However, administrative obstacles influenced
by colonial legacies have complicated processes such as administrative access
and drug registration, which can take up to two years to complete. Establishing
a resilient healthcare system in Tanzania was discussed as a strategic step
toward facilitating market entry and fostering collaboration.
Tanzania's considerable livestock
production capacity offers a lucrative opportunity for exporting biological
products to the country. With Iran's Ministry of Agriculture aiming to position
Tanzania as a key hub for meat imports, there exists a promising avenue to
provide veterinary vaccines from the renowned Razi Institute.
A detailed report was presented
to the ambassador in preparation for the upcoming BWC Convention Conference at
the European headquarters of the United Nations and the scheduled seminar.
Following a request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to secure political
support from Tanzania and participate in the seminar, the Ambassador conveyed
this appeal. He assured his commitment to utilizing all available resources to
secure Tanzania's political backing at the forthcoming BWC Conference.
